Time:
According to Sir Newton,
“Absolute true and mathematical time of itself and from its own nature, flows equally without relation to anything external and is otherwise called duration.”
Properties of Time:
The properties of time are:
- One dimensional: Time flows only in one direction, i.e. time is one-dimensional. Time is independent of space and specified by a single-valued variable t.
- Homogeneity: Time flows uniformly i.e. time is homogeneous in nature. If we perform an experiment and the time of the experiment, the result of the experiment remains unchanged. This simply means that the result of an experiment is independent of the change in the origin of time. This phenomenon is known as the homogeneity of time.
- Isotropy: Theoretically time is isotropic. This indicates that with the changing of time from +t to –t, the laws of physics remain unchanged.
