Poise:

If a tangential force of one dyne is required per sq. cm. to maintain a relative velocity of 1 cm/sec between two layers 1 cm. apart, then the coefficient of viscosity is 1 poise.

Decapoise:

If a tangential force of 1 Newton is required per sq. m. to maintain a relative velocity of 1 m/sec between two layers 1 m. apart, then the coefficient of viscosity is 1 decapoise.

Relation between poise & decapoise:

1 decapoise = 10 poise.
